Hi,

Have had out tent now for approx 3 weeks - Vango Diablo 600. Pitched it in family garden about two weeks ago for the first time(It took 1hr 15 minutes). We camped in it that night also - 2 adults + 2 kids (2 + 6). That was the night of the pretty bad storms - it was really windy but the tent stayed up and we enjoyed it.

We now have all the gear we think we need (sure to have missed something) and are planning to go away for a long Easter Weekend. I have no real plans on where to go and was looking for some advice.

I know the weather may still not be that great this time of year but we are eager to try it out and I have some time off - besides the kids are really excited.

My initial thoughts are to look at the weather forecast around Tuesday 3rd April (next week) - find the best weather conditions and then look on here for a good site.

What do you guys think?

On a side note: has anybody ever got there tent back into the bag it was provided with?

If you want to go away at Easter I would start ringing round now to find a pitch. Many sites are now fully booked and there may not be much choice.

Getting the tent back into the bag is one of lifes great mysteries but we neve had a problem with our old Diablo 400 as the poles were in a seperate compartment of the bag. You need to get as much of the air out as possible so you need to roll on it and sit on it and always roll towards an exit so the air has somewhere to go.

Or save yourself some aggro and get a bigger bag......if you search on 'tent bags' you will see what I mean.

Hi p_kerr2003

What area are you looking at to camp in over the Easter break.  Then once you decide that, go to the 'Camp site' search at top of page and click on and then put area into search and it will give you lots of options.  Pick out a couple of sites and read reviews.

Of course you could always tell us the area and you will get loads of people with their fave site for that destination.

Good luck and Happy Easter

Sites for Easter are pretty well booked (we booked early January). Don't wait to see what the weather is doing - book somewhere and go for it. Your tent will hold up even if the weather is crap and you can always get out and about. The main thing is to get out there and camp!

just to let you know I have looked at Lakes and Northumberland for Easter and there aree a few sites with availability for tents, seems tents are quit easy to travel with

if you want to go to these areas, lt me know and I will let you know which ones told me they have availibility for tents (I am looking to go with Caravan so they were no good to me)

Alot of sites don't takr bookings for tents its a case of first come first served so if you can get away earlier you should be fine- a bit risky I suppose but other people manage fine.

Thanks for all your input.

Key contenders are North Devon or North/West Wales.

Thanks again for all your advice.

We are camping with tent and are not bothered about electricity hook up. We just want a place where the kids will have a great time - with things to do in the campsite vicinity. Not bothered about bar and loads of entertainment on-site - play area for kids and field for football would be great.

Thanks for the offer for the Lakes - I have been there many times and it is a great place to visit - not to sure on the weather for this area - might be risky for first camping experience with family in the tent.

I did have a little look at the weekend and places do seem to have some vacancies - so hopefully we should be OK.

I am booking tonight - will let you know how I get on.

Thank you - will consider other campsite postings in the near future.

Booked with 'redfunnel.co.uk'

Ferry and White Sands campsite 5 nights over the easter weekend for £130.

2 adults, 3 kids and car.

I have nothing really to compare against yet - but that seemed like a really good deal as the ferry worked out at £110 on its own.

Thanks for all your advice.
