Hello.
I have acquired a very old, but free! Phoenix one man tent but I cannot work out how to put it up correctly. Does anyone know where I should look to find photos of old Phoenix tents?
Don't seem to be able to post pictures on this site?
I had a Phoenix Phantom, I loved that tent.
Phoenix were a breakaway from Vango, the Vango Force 10 uses "A" poles at each end with a ridge pole between them.
The top of an "A" pole is a plastic fitting with holes for 2 poles and a spike.
Phoenix tended to use an "A" pole at the front end and a small single pole at the back end giving the tent the appearance of a wigwam with a bit sticking out.
The poles and fly sheet were erected first then the inner tent pegged down inside the flysheet and hung from the flysheet.
Zip doors in the flysheet and inner tent allowed storage in this area and ventilation in really hot weather.
Hope this helps.
Many thanks Bramston.
I managed to upload a photo of my newly acquired tent onto my profile page.
Being a new member - not sure whether you can view it.
Would anyone know what model it is?
Just need to make plans to use it now!
It looks like a phreak. If it had been double A frame it would have been a phortress but the phreak was a sloping ridge with A frame front and small bell entrance.
I go Phreak.

Ewen..you are right about it being a Phreak. Just saw one for sale on Ebay
A mate had one but I couldn't remember what the ph it was. Luckily he answered the email as it was doing my heid in.
We used to diss him about Phoenix tent names and their possible owners.
The Phoenix phannie is closely related to the Phoenix phud. Very straight poles and uptight guylines.

If it is still waterproof and not succumbed to the dreaded UV, then you have an excellent tent there.

I had a very similar tent with external A frame at the front once; a Hobo Fan I think it was called. Borrowed by a 'friend' and never returned, unfortunately.
