Coming from somewhere where tourism has a bit influence on the economy, Devon, I think the fact that people think they are “safe” on a campsite is all very well, but surely you are going to want to go sight seeing!
I see no point in traveling 150 miles to say Devon or Cornwall to sit outside your tent or caravan, that is not a holiday. I think the powers to be have to add in the equation the impact on the area and local people.
As a Dartmoor/Devonian, I can go to places and hardly see a soul. In fact we are just about to go to the coast and spend the day on a beach, but unless you know, you would never find it.
Here in Devon and I know it is the same in Cornwall, the “tourist spots” like certain places on Dartmoor, have been unbelievably rammed with locals from our bigger towns and cities, and those traveling from slightly further afield. Add in a huge influx of tourists......Mayhem!
Anyway, regards “our beach”.........I ain’t telling you lot! 😀👍🤣
