I may be asking too much, I am looking for a lightweight (under 1.5kg) tent for a month long bikepacking trip , don't want to spend too much as not likely to use again afterwards!
Need a full tent.
Anybody out there used a budget one and can report?
How lightweight? For how many people? What usage? Standing headroom or not?
Where in the world or for what expected conditions?
As a kick off, if you are talking seriously of that weight for more than 1 person and space for kit, look at the OneTigris ranges of tents, perhaps their baker style tents? Push bike or motorbike? Maybe even some tipi stle such as Robens Greencone or a Luxepeake(?) or OneTigris Smokey Hut or similar..................
(some of the above can be found in the review section?)
Budget and lightweight ( 1.5kg & under) often don't go hand in hand. I suggest checking out the Lanshan and Naturehike options. Also the Alpkit Soloist matches your weight requirements at a fairly good price point.
Stunning place.....but get a quality tent, with a good hydrostatic head, and
good ventilation, often a bugbear of plastic tents . For one person, consider a two person tent. One that would work well and not be too expensive may be a Vango Halo 200. Robust, excellent weather and wind protection with excellent ventilation possibilities, but maybe a touch bulky/heavy? Perhaps something from MSR????? They will be pricier but lighter? Or again the Robens Greencone?
All pushing your weight limit though...........
Thinking again, maybe for some a little out of the box, but I often make a tent out of a 3 x 3 metre tarp. Loads of space for one, good weather protection (good tarp say from DD)??? Saves a LOT of space and weight?
I will probably go for a 2 skin tent rather than the tarp approach, there seem to be some lower cost light ones. The ultralight makes seem to be silly money. Thanks for the ideas, I have got plenty of time to research and shop, got other gear to get as well!
