3. Dont use gas cannisters, they are incredibly bad on the environment (disposal, manufacturing etc), get a meths cooker (lighter) some are only 50 grams in total weight and use mineralized spirits (cheap and sold everywhere) and very eco friendly.

I don't know where this urban myth comes from.  Gas canisters are no more damaging to the environment than any other type of can.  They can't be refilled but, once fully empty, they are non-pressurised and can be recycled.  Gas is clean, easy to use and reliable.  I wouldn't recommend meths burners to a beginner.

As to tent choice, I would recommend the Vango Spirit 300+.  This has plenty of space for 2 people and all their gear, pitches rock solid, is highly waterproof and handles condensation very well.  Mine is a few years old and weighs 3.2kg so that is only 1.6kg each when carried between 2 people.  I think the current model is bit heavier and it's not the cheapest tent but if you are wildcamping, it is reassuring and safer to have a durable tent in case the weather worsens.

The key thing to do before wildcamping is to try a night or two in your back garden or on a campsite with exactly the kit you intend to take.  This will tell you whether you can pitch your tent, sleep comfortably, cook etc. before finding out that your super lightweight sleeping pad is about as comfortable as lying on an envelope and you can't sleep.

Cotswold Outdoors have VauDe Mark 2 tents for only £180 at the moment - a great buy and at least £60 less than any other outlet I have found.

Weighs a shade over 4.5kg but easy to split the load between two and can genuinely have the tent up in less than five minutes.

We have the Vango Omega 350 and have used it on many a proper backpacking trip without any issue or problem with the weight. As posted by numerous people the weight can be shared if needed. The porch area is great if the weather is bad or you need some storage area.

Hello.
I backpack regularly and I spent ages finding the right tent.
I use a Vaude Taurus II, it is well under 3kg and supposedly a 3 man tent, in reality it's just a very roomy 2 man. The porch isn't vast but two of of can stash all our gear in it.
We use a trangia moths cooker, weatherproof and fuel efficient.
Look at the weight of everything, synthetic bags weigh twice what a down one does.
There are a thousand little things to learn, but weight is the first thing on my mind when looking at any gear.
Happy trekking, Stu...

We use a Hilleberg Nallo2 GT for cycle camping, plenty of room for two, and enough room in the porch to store two touring bikes, weighing in at 2.5kg and uber small pack size for such a spacious tent, especialy considering it is a all season tent, been using mine for around 6 years now and is still as new, of course they don't come cheap, which is always the case when your looking for the best kit for the job. but why compramise.
