HA!HA! Feeling posh, hillbillie? Love it!

Hello Jake10. The tent is a Cliimo 2 man, which I bought from Tog 24. The rucksack is a Hi-Gear Phantom 60+10, which I got from Go Outdoors. The green rope is indeed paracord, and it's folded that way to stop it from getting tangled, as I'm sure you are well aware.

I do intend to keep building and changing my equipment as I go on, so I haven't quite found my mark yet. I will build an emergency kit full of all the stuff you have listed, and as I become more experienced, may specialise in all things woodland. (I've just bought two folding shovels off ebay for £11.50 inc. p+p. I gave one to my step daughter to keep in her car)

I don't light fires if I'm wild camping, but may be tempted to take a volcano stove and source some natural fuel to burn instead of meths all the time, so a lighter would be quicker.

My Swedish military stove is the Austria 3 pot version and it's like carrying a brick around. However, I have used it in the freezing cold, during a downpour, whilst a heck of a wind was howling like a banshee and an owl was hooting (ok, that last one was a total lie). The point is, it has and never will, let me down. You just can't say that for many things now, can you?

I have only just started collecting equipment since last year and my first wild camp was in the Cairngorms. I've learned from there that I need to watch the weight and hone my skills on what to take and not. I no longer take books....ahem...but half the fun is learning from experience, as well as other people. To this end, will you post some pics, Jake10? I'm clearly not the only person to find such things fascinating. Cheers
