Has to be my Force ten Nitrolite 200+ and my Coleman FyreStorm PCS Stove, In my opinion, more stable and just has good as any Jetboil and considerable cheaper.. but most of all my Therm-a-Rest

Not much has changed but ironically I got laid off the following year & decided to just work part time for a few years until I retire properly. I started off in a bike shop, took a break for my ankle op, back to the bike shop & now work in an outdoor gear shop! My attitude hasn't much changed but I do enjoy the customer interaction & the big staff discount does help.   I've a couple of new rucsacs to try.   My old Lowe Alpine Systems pack from the 80's is still on standby. I bought a modern, lighter Lowe just before lockdown but the hipbelt slipped (probably my covid/recuperation gut didn't help) so have replaced it with a couple of Ospreys. Not a fan of their bigger packs - find them a little over fussy but the Talon 44 looks good for trips of a week or more & winter weekends & a Talon Pro 30 for summer weekends.

Most of my kit is lightweight but I do love my stoves. My current favourites are my Speedster stoves. They make a windshield to fit whatever pot you use & very frugal meths burners. I have one for my Alpkit Myti 600ml pot I use on the bike (it fits perfectly in Alpkits stem mounted 'fuel-cell') & for backpacking I have one for my GSI Halulite pot.

A recent lunch stop. All four of us using a Speedster system on different pots.

The windshield/stand makes a big difference to the efficiency & stormproofing. It's like having an ultralight, ultra frugal Trangia. There are faster stoves but the speed suits me perfectly.

I now have the burner and mug stand. I already had a good windshield made from flashing type aluminium so all good. Will probably get out to use it this weekend.
Can't believe the weight of the system allied to a titanium mug.

Just used the speedster burner and stand for my morning brew. Impressive.





Was stuck in the tent in heavy rain last night so was on stuff I didn't need to cook. Could have used that system in the tent easily.
