GoLite Womens Pinnacle back pack
Few dry bags (smallest good for taking valuables to shower etc)

Terra Nova Competition tent
Thermarest Womens Prolite
Vango Viper 500 down bag (wondering if it's worth investing in lighter, womens specific bag)
Trekmates silk sleeping bag liner

2 person Trangia, but now have a Primus Eta Express. Only used it walking so far but very pleased. No good for *cooking* but very quick boil time, handy for backpacker style meals.
Light my fire spork.
Cheap plastic mug.

Thermals to sleep in. Have a nice merino wool hoody top that makes very a very warm PJ top, An expensive PJ top LOL

Water proofs.

Argos Pro-Action Hike Lite tent
Tesco micro-lite mummy sleeping bag + cotton liner
Gelert self inflating mat
Trangia 0.6l kettle, Eurohike solo cookset and a portable stove from a firm I forget

The rucksack was from either Aldi or Lidl and most of the remainder such as plates, cutlery and so on was from poundland. I generally use one eurohike compression sack for clothes and I have a 2l Tesco water bladder.

If the weather is likely to be colder I take a Tesco Value mummy sleeping bag which is much warmer. I also have a Gelert Eiger 2 which I take if I'm staying more than a day or two in one place as it gives me more room to spread out.

Hilleberg Akto

Exped Downmat 7 (I sleep colder than a corpse and the Exped is as comfortable as my bed at home)

Cumulus Quantum sleeping bag (the Quantum 200 weighs less than 500g but is warm down to freezing point)

Patra silk leggings and top.  I sleep in these as I can't get on with bag liners.  The 2 garments together weigh 200g, are supremely comfortable and can also be used as a spare baselayer if required.

Gregory Z55 rucksack (not the lightest but certainly the best-designed, most stable pack available)

Vargo Jet-ti gas stove with Primus windshield and legs for stability.  I prefer gas as it is clean and convenient.

MSR Titan kettle and mug, homemade pot cosy and Lexan spoons.  This is all the cooking equipment I ever take.  The Titan kettle is very stable and pours easily.  It's the only pot I need for backpacking.  The Titan mug can be used direclty on the stove to make a hot drink if I can't be bothered to wash up the kettle.  The pot cosy is a brilliant bit of kit, weighs almost nothing and saves a huge amount of fuel.

Flint &steel (never fails and works even when wet).

Sea-to-Summit ultra-sil drybags.  Lighter than the Exped equivalents and just as waterproof.

Source Widepak bladder fitted with a Drinksafe Systems in-line filter.  The filter is fantastic - clean, safe, taste-free water with no waiting.  If you're still using chemicals to purify water, you don't know what you're missing.

Buff (ridiculously overpriced but very useful).

I didn't realize you could use the titanium mug directly over gas. Excellent, I've been trying to decide which mug.

How did you make the pot cosy? I've been using my Primus Eta whilst walking for hot drinks and Wayfayre meals and have thought some sort of insulation would be a good idea.

Make sure it is a single-walled mug, not a vacuum, double-walled type before using over the stove.

Pot cosy material can be bought here from Backpackinglight.  They have excellent kit and legendary customer service - I got my titanium mug from them as well.  The link includes instructions for making a cosy.  In addition to the material, you need some duct tape and a pair of scissors.  Make the top and bottom double thickness for extra effectiveness.

My main backpacking gear so far:

- Haglofs Matrix 60L Rucksack
- 2L Platypus Hoser
- North Face Tadpole 23 (see sig for pic)
- Multimat Adventure 25 Self Inflating Sleeping Mat (had the ultralight version initially but it had a hole in it when it arrived so got it replaced with this model as I felt more confident in its robustness)
- Vango Venom 300 down bag (stupidly small pack size & weight and pretty warm)
- Mammut Ajungilak Air Pillow
- Thermarest Trekker Chair (so comfy!)
- Honey Stove with Trangia Burner or Cobalt Stove (love the Honey Stove and am very impressed with the Cobalt)
- Snow Peak 900 cookset & Tibetan Titanium folding spork

Other bits include hip flask, £4 Asda value radio (brilliant for the price), flint & steel, UCO tealight lantern etc.

On the look out for a new mug, maybe an Alpkit down jacket and a head torch etc etc. Just can't get everything at once unfortunately.

Bergaus cyclops roc bergan.
Buffalo jacket, never been cold or wet anywhere in it.
Aladdin thermal mug.

All at least 20 years old, could do with a new buffalo, the fibrepile looks a bit thin when I compared to a new one recently.

Coleman petrol stove
Wish I still had my 'old school' karrimor KSB classics green and sage.
