I'm thinking about doing the above next year for a charity (most likely H4H). But was thinking maybe by bike (non motorised of course) but do it there and back if you get what I mean.

I was just wondering if anyone else had done this and isit possible by bike?

I should think so. Quick look at a road atlas suggests Whitby -> Pickering -> Bedale -> Hawes -> Kendal -> Ambleside -> Langdale - Hardknott Pass (you'll need your Weetabix that morning ) -> Ravenglass.

That takes in the three national parks. Obviously you'd pick your route to avoid major roads.

I think there is a special route for cyclists that ends in Sunderland and not Robin Hoods Bay Google for C2C cycle route HTH's Steve

Without googling it I think there are a few coast to coast routes, one ends in Yorkshire and the others end in Sunderland or Tynemouth.

If you did the C2C and ended in Tynemouth you could do the return via the Reivers route which runs between Cumbria and North Tyneside via the Border country.
