Andy, Mark,

I'm sure you have loads of photographs I'd love to see so please get them on - reckon a thread is nothing without pictures

Another tip, if you see an interesting picture on the web, just hover your mouse cursor over the picture, press your RIGHT mouse button. You will be offered a menu where you can select 'Copy Image Location'. You can then post it on here by pasting (Ctrl+v) into your post as explained earlier.

Don't be afraid to ask for help because once you get it, its great fun.

John

Suppose I should add that it is unacceptable to repost pictures for commercial purposes. Otherwise pictures posted the web are obviously for public consumption.

Not sure if this thread is the appropriate place for coaching Mark so let's hope Private Hudson doesn't mind.

When I place the mouse cursor over your attempted picture post I can find out what you attempted to show. Unfortunately it was not a picture this time. Also the 'Skye cycle camping' has got the link to go straight back to this very post, whoops!

You might want to check out this link   Posting pictures on ukcampsite

If you get stuck after reading this I'll try to help again.

Good luck mate

As an aside I would love to camp up in Skye, I went there a few years ago on a minibus tour and liked it a lot (except one bar I went into which seemed to be the local dive). I had a great time because there was only 7 of us on the trip and the bus was only a 14 seater so we had plenty of time to speak with each-other and the driver who knew the Highlands pretty well. Portree harbour is really beautiful in the evenings.

*sighs*

I want to go camping already!

A few years ago (too many) we cycle camped through Sky on the way from Mallaig through to Harris. We camped at the Sligachan campsite where it rained. It didn't stop a couple of us racing to Portree (san panniers) for evening beers and then back for bed. Our fitness then is something I can only dream of now.

Had 10 days in Skye and Wester Ross last April. Not backpacking but some wildcamping. Walking The Quiraing, Rhuba Hunish, The Cuillins, just stunning and lucky with weather.

Still a bit cold at night but no midges

When I was there in 2005, Elgol was surrounded in sunshine: next day Sligachan was hidden in mist and the campsite under redevelopment. What I liked best about the Portree site was that the heavy campers dependent on a supply of electricity were corralled within a small enclosure, the rest of us having the open field! Will try to scan some more photos - my camera at the time was working on emulsion film!
