I have a Jetboil Flash and Primus Spider. The Jetboil is brilliant for heating up water and other liquids but pretty useless for anything else. However, it's a very neat solution. I wouldn't bother with the pot stand adapter thingy. You already get a canister stabiliser with the Flash and trust me, you will be waiting for ever if you want to heat anything up in another pan. I tried using an MSR frying pan with the Jetboil but it was next to useless. The Primus is therefore my stove of choice if I want to cook bacon etc.

Hi Mulligrubs
Out of interest what is the inside of the jetboil like? What I mean is could you use it to heat up a tin of food e.g. soup as well as boil water? That's what I liked about the ETA pot, plus the pack size looked smaller for the ETA?
Thanks for your help.
Adrian
The inside of the Jetboil is just like a normal pan - hardened anodised aluminium. Yes, you can use it to heat tins of food like soup or stew or beans, etc. But then you'd need to wash the thing ! I generally buy the boil-in-the-bag stuff, and squash the bags into the Jetboil. If I'm cooking sloppy stuff, I use a set of mess tins which double up as a plate with a handle.
In the wind, the Jetboil works well. I haven't noticed any particular problems with wind. I haven't used the ETA in any sort of wind.
Thanks for your posts. Have decided on the Jetboil for my backpacking. Generally use dehydrated meals but the option of the occasional tins heated up is a bonus. Plus of course hot water for a cuppa!
