Just want to let the backpackers know about the coleman f1 lite lantern - 88g with carry pouch, easy to use, plenty of light and heat - excellent for when you've pitched and no longer need to use the headlamp - uses the coleman screw in gas cartridge - got mine on a price match from GoOutdoors - highly recommended - takes up no space at all
I have a F1 lantern and a F1 Spirit stove as emergency spares, very compact indeed.

This would have been really handy, but I've traded my old Karrimor Go System (which can use the Coleman cartridges) in for a Mini Trangia recently, so don't use gas anymore.
That said I am having intermittent problems with the Trangia, so I'll bear this in mind should I return to using cartridges in the future.
I picked up a cheap Coleman F1 stove on Ebay the other day and tried it out tonight, cooking some rice on it. I have to say I was very impressed, it took no more time to cook than the gas cooker and the stove packs down into my solo cookset easily as well.
I'm not going to give up on the Trangia just yet, but this will be a good back up just in case. Thanks for putting me onto it Fitzydan.
