Hi all,

I have just picked up a Saunders Space-Packer Plus tent, but it didn't have the pole with it.

Is there some knowledgeable person out there who can tell me what the pole format (material, length, girth, section length, number) should be for this model.  I assume from images on google that it has a single bendy hoop pole of some kind, probably fibreglass rather than aluminium.  Any advice would be welcome.

Does anybody have a spare that they would consider parting with?

Spacepackers are single hoop tents, as you have worked out. I suggest you do a search for Robert Saunders - unfortunately he died last year, but I have an idea that someone imight be carrying on part of the business.

You might be able to get one made up for you in a decent camping shop. I had a couple of poles made for me while I waited in the big camping shop in Ambleside - can't remember the name now. I'm sure other places nearer to you will do the same. If you google the tent I'm sure you'll get the dimensions. Failing that ask on a specialist Bushcraft site - someone will have one.

from memory the pole on the plus is bigger diameter than normal, unfortunately I have thrown ours away

google Robert Saunders, Roberts daughter now runs the show and they are very helpful with spare bits.

The pole is ally but there are couple of variations in size for the spacepacker range.

I still have my SP+ which I went halfs with my parents for my 18th, 27years ago this Wednesday coming.! Rob Saunders gave it a refurb a few years ago and its still going strong and as he told me personally, It will outlive me.!

Great tent. great bloke. Dont take a short cu,t phone and get a proper pole.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I got dimensions from someone else and a lead to suggest that Hampton Works (Bulldog poles) could supply a pole for it as they were OE suppliers for a lot of similar tents. Will follow these up in due course.
In the meantime and armed with dimensions, I have made up a pole from 8.5mm T9 alloy sections which were scrap from a Terra Nova. The tent is sitting pitched in the garden at the moment, although it is quite a sheltered position, at least I can see how dry etc it stays.
