Campers used to use billy cans (mentioned in Waltzing Matilda) they are handle-less metal pots able to nest into each other giving you a set of three.
I have a nest of non-stick aluminium billies with a detachable handle that lives inside the billies in transit and storage.
The lids may be turned upside down and used as frying pans as they are also non-stick
I think I bought mine from the Scout Shop (Camping and Outdoor leisure Centre) many years ago.
Anything light-weight, and non-stick should be cleaned with care and never leant to idiots who will scrape off your Teflon with a Brillo pad.
Thanks for the reply, Bramston. I like the idea of using the lid as a frying pan, not bothered about non stick - I always seem to ruin non stick anyway!
Tatonka loop handled 4ltr stainless steel pot/kettle . Works well for 4 of us . Weve got MSR pans as well but the Tatonka Pan and Kettle get the most use now with the four of us . At first you think there to big but a fair amount of food can be carried in the pan and all the drinks setup in the kettle . And a bonus there perfect for campfires .

That looks like just the thing I'm after, Thank you.
The best value pans that are used all over the world are the Zebra Billy cans. They are made of stainless steel and are bomb proof and not to expensive. You probably need a 24cm one and they are under £20 I believe.
------------- Armchair camper with more tents than I will probably ever get the use out of.
