Ive had my eye on those candle lanterns but they look a little bulky for proper light weight treks. Worth it if they kick out a bit of heat as a combined light and heat source, good for heating or not really?

I tend to stick to the round LED lights

(screwfix - Ring Automotive 24 LED Round Magnetic Utility Lamp 250W)

Kick out stacks of light for something so light weight and small and very duarable.

Yes, sorry to hear that Lady Cakes.

The candle lantern slides down to half the size for packing. I use one occasionally, more for sentimental value that anything else and to be fair it does the job.

Might take a look at one. I prefer the natural light of gas/candle but always opted for the pin lights as there so compact.

But a super small light weight one might be just the ticket.

I bought mine used from Ebay and the guy gave me two unused candles for free.I think I paid about £8 few years ago and it was almost new.

Yeah you guys keep posting in this section....I don't contribute much to the lightweight topic....As even when backpacking I take far too much stuff....But always enjoy your imput....piccies and trip reports....And am always interested in your take on stuff like cooking gear for lightweight camping..

Managed once a month for 8 months last year...So did not so bad in managing to get off into the green stuff...

Been away twice this year already.....and off for a two nighter at the end of the month.....So on track for this year so far.......

Jelboy.

PS: FOA Spiritburner....

With your interest in old petrol lamp repairs and restoration.....I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of anyone with a similar interest in the Glasgow area???

My Coleman dual fuel single burner lamp has developed a fault with the generator(I think)...No steady flow of pressure to the mantle???

Took it apart and had a tinker...But reckon I might have made it worse....Time for someone in the above area who knows what they are doing to have a go (If possible)

Also picked up an old fuel lamp in a charity shop the other day (£15)....No info or instructions with it...Approx 1ltr tank capacity painted gold with a pyrix glass globe with Tilly Pyrix 171 heat resisting printed on it????

Tank is filled by removing the whole pump unit....Pressured it up empty the other day and there is a nice uninterrupted flow of air through to the part where you place the mantle...

Again....Would like someone in the area who knows a bit about them to have a look If possible..

Just had a closer look at the old stove and found the Tilly trade mark etched into the side of the tank....So looks like a complete lamp....Be nice to get it up and running again....

Sorry no pics.....Not one of my strong points is loading pics on here

But hope you can help with a contact.... Googled lamp repairers and all that comes up is ornate leccy lamps for outside your front door!!!!!

Jelboy.
