Hi di hi campers.

Im gonna get a 2 man tent to take my son on his first hike. We are mild weather lowland walkers so dont need top flight kit.

Yellowstone tents are priced really well but are they too cheap or just good value?

My regular 2 adult tent is the cobra (2.7 kg ) which we love but as im with a kid i will be carrying most of the gear. Im looking for a v light item and the yellowstone Alpine 2 caught my eye.

Anyone used one?

I don't have any experience with Yellowstone. But I have a suggestion, how about you split the pack of your cobra and get your child to carry the poles (or fly if that's lighter)

Thats a plan for future.

Cobra 3 weighs in at 2.7 kg and really roomy.
No probs for me with mrs tackhead as she can help.

looking at 2kg tent as son will not carry much communal kit after packing his sleep stuff clothes and personal gear. i need to reduce weight of as much as poss.
Im getting on a bit and enjoy hiking but only want to be a bit fatigued at end of the days walk. Taking as little weight as pos means more energy to get to curry house/pub etc and end of day.

It depends on what you call good. If you don't mind it been less than perfect and cheaply made then they are fine. Just don't expect too much for the price and you'll not be too disappointed. I've used mine twice and it's performed ok in woodland. I wouldn't like to risk it in a storm or really heavy rain.

Hi tackhead, I have an Alpine 2. It is a reasonable tent, it has held up to some heavy rain and some high winds but its not quite in the same league as my Banshee 200...

Hi tack head. Did you buy this tent and if so, have you used it yet? What do you think? I used mine recently and put a vid on YouTube (wildphil64) I got rain and hail and it performed very well, although there wasn't any wind to speak of. I even cooked inside it. Just thought I'd let you know

Not invested yet, so ill report back on any new tent i buy.

Still highly rate the cobra. Had it years still works really wll.

Gonna waterproof it this year for the first time. Never leaked on me yet but just for insurance.
