I've asked Santa for a down jacket, but for some reason he has outsourced the purchase to my wife.

There are regular reviews on the Decathlon down jacket, so this is probably my jacket of choice, given its price compared to the top brand jackets.

Of course, if I was going up Everest I would indeed get a higher-rated jacket, but just for wild camping in the UK, a cheaper one will do.

It's only 3 season camping, to keep warm in my tent, not for winter waling in the snow

Does anybody here have the Decathlon down jacket and what are your ideas .. would you buy it again ?

thanks !

I’d go to ARCO, especially during a sale: work wear is excellent value. You can open an account for a small discount, but check the catalogue online in case they stock that make.
As for makes, I hate Velcro & that’s often been a decider. And the hood fastening or nib varies. Length too. So I don’t think the down element is the only factor, especially when it’s hard to compare, as they don’t have a Tog value like down duvets.

My wife has a Decathlon down jacket. Very good. Compresses well and is warm. Probably the best for the price. We both use a lot of Quechua and Simond clothing.
I myself use a karrimor elite down jacket. Also good and has napoleon pockets. The elite range is better than the usual Karrimor tat. Shame that such a great company ended up the way it is now.

May I jump on this conversation to broaden it beyond Decathlon?

I'm looking for winter warm, lightweight, waterproof and most importantly breathable. Actually, most importantly, not £300.

Have just followed PM's suggestion and bought a Decathlon Trek 100. Incredibly lightweight and seemingly thin. Looks well made though and will test on a wildcamp (bivvying) this week................
If you (anyone )is going the Dec Trek 100 route, buy at least one size large.

Have found it extremely versatile and effective on several cold wild camps of late.
