I've started this as a new topic as many of these posts seem to be a few years old.
I'm looking for a sneaky little lightweight tent to use on my thru-hikes of the national trails. Any and all ideas are welcome. Ta muchly 😀

Gosh, there are so many options even before you start with personal prerequisites.???
One of my recent favourites..... and as weight will be a consideration would be a Nortent Vern 1, but there are so many options on the ultra lightweight tent choice.
Consider also, where and when (weather conditions)? How many nights? A nominal 1 man tent may be impractical for your gear to be undercover as well or with you, but if not a consideration, 1 man tents and or hooped bivvies may also become options?

Lightweight?
A Vango helium 1 or 2. The 1 is 1.2 kg and the 2 is 1.4 kg and competitively priced.
I have the 1 man. You will get more space in the 2 man. Both pack small and are tough wee tents.

I am probably retiring the Helium as I got the newest variant of the Durston Xmid solid. With minimum pegs it comes in at just under a kilo whilst having room to sit up, two vestibules and dual zips.

Nice one Ewan! I got the X-Dome when it came out but changed my mind before it arrived & sold it on at cost.

Probably best, Ross, as a few people had pole problems. It looks a nice tent. I thought about it but I know the Xmid pitch etc and trust it.
I had looked at Bonfus and Tipik but they were too expensive and the Durston was only a bit heavier but way cheaper. I didn't want a single skin so didn't look at those. I prefer carrying the extra weight and avoiding the worst of the condensation.
On a side note, any ideas on a replacement spring for a pre 47 Optimus 8 pressure release valve?

Aye. Xmid has solid reputation. I may reconsider the XDome if he goes to DAC poles. I'm sworn off DCF & Ultra - not the fabric for a clutch like me. Sticking with the Trekkertent Edge for now (plus a Lanshan for bikepacking!)

I like the Trekkertents. The customs and lead time is the only barrier. The Durston was over €100 customs charge.
The drift 1would have been my choice if I was in the UK. If I was more mobile, I like the stealth as it is similar to my old Saunders. Trouble is I need an easy entry tent.
