Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been away. Camping. After only managing 4 days away from home since September 2019 (3 nights at my sister's in Scotland last August, plus an overnighter at Canterbury C&CC in Sept 20 when visiting a friend who'd been unwell) I felt overdue a change of walls, and that's what I had. Colourful cotton canvas and trees, plus a short drive to the sea. Bliss. Oh, and fab weather too, having booked back in Feb.
My OH was supposed to be coming but that's always a bit up in the air these days as his camping enthusiasam has waned. He did have the excuse of a new job... so, solo camp for me for 3 nights, with the bonus of a friend for the other two. Despite living quite nearby health concerns meant we'd not been able to spend as much time together as we'd have liked. I don't think we stopped talking! Sorry fellow camp neighbours... we did try to be quiet...
I decided to give 'Esther the Estoril', a lovely Cabanon frame tent an outing: her first since 2016 and the Ardeche. Despite being a 6-berth, I can easily pitch and strike this on my own - a feat which is much harder with the Outwell Monterey 4 (a bit like plate spinning). I'm not sure that the style of cottage-style frame tent can be beaten for longer stays, especially in high temperatures. I just love her, it felt very much like a reunion with a friend one hadn't seen for sometime (can you see what I did there?). Like me and my friend, some bits could do with some TLC - the rubber peg loops have perished (just as well I'd put in the elastic cord I'd forgotten I'd bought as replacements...serendipity). I managed to squeeze the tent, table, chairs, bedding, icebox, cooker etc into my Fiesta. I'm quite a good packer  I like to be comfortable without taking the kitchen sink. Sadly, I have to do some repairs to the loose PVC groundsheets I use - Mickey and his friends took a liking to them in the garage, nibbling along the folds. Not entirely sure how to effect a repair... I know, I'll look on here!
I read a book, we went to Sandringham (rude not to when so close by) and the glorious beaches of Hunstanton, Holkham, Brancaster and Holme Dunes. Home now, and knackered. Camping in good weather is bliss, being indoors feels so dark and I needed the space and air to replenish, as I'm sure so many of us do.
They promised me sea!!!!!
