As many of you will remember, I used to regularly post trip reports featuring my gorgeous boy Bailey. Well it seems only right that I should continue this with Pinto, our Romanian rescue dog who came to live with us 2 years ago. Obviously it's been a funny 2 years and limited opportunities to camp, although we did get away twice last year. I did post our first trip on here to introduce her but not posted any since.

Anyway, after our brief adventure with airbeams and suffering from collapsing beams and then a leaking tent, we decided to return to something more solid. In the sales last year we invested in a Khyam Family 6 steel pole tent, this is the story of our first adventure in it at a fairly local site to us, Garth Farm, Hollym near Withernsea on the East Coast.

Having spoken to the owners we asked for a pitch where there would be little distraction for Pinto. She's settled so well with us but she's still not fond of strangers. We put a windbreak up to divert her gaze and pitched giving thought to that.

This was our pitch, number one, and it was wonderful, right in the corner, close to the entrance so we didn't have to walk through the site to go down the quiet country lane for a walk.

It's a lovely small site (review done), only 16 pitches, facilities are clean and although only 2 toilets, we never had to queue. The site was full over the weekend. We normally do adult only sites but this was a family site. As we were in the corner we had no children running around the pitch.

The tent went up really well and we love it, very solid and lots of space. Pinto settled in very quickly!

The tent came with a bucket ground sheet for the porch area but we didn't bother with this only being a short trip.

Living in Hull, all my holidays growing up were spent in our own static caravan on Trailer Park in Withernsea (now Withernsea Sands) We often visit With but for anyone visiting Garth Farm it's only 5 mins drive away and there's Tesco and Aldi there aswell as lovely walks.

We were very lucky with the weather!

Pinto has settled into camping really well. We still have to be careful if anyone approaches the tent, but that's a territory thing and is improving all the time. We've invested in a soft muzzle for her if she does start barking too much. We only had to use it once in 4 days.

She loves to sit and listen to the birds and strangely watches aeroplanes fly over, but apparently the shelter she came from is on a flight path!
She's getting better with every trip, we just have to do a few logistics in positioning the windbreaks and the tent, but all seemed to go well. Our next trip is whit week and we're really looking forward to it.

Pinto is lovely, and thanks for the write up!

Bean is just the same, still young and barks at every thing as he wants to play all the time!

Next trip is an adult only site over the double BH weekend.

UJ buntings and windbreak clips at the ready to hold them in place.

Can't wait!

BTW, Bean had a clappy progress, in that other doggies that went with him to a secured dog walk with a pool with Borda's walker, encouraged him to go into the pool, result!

Lovely to see your camping adventures with Pinto -she's gorgeous and I can't believe how much she's grown!
We're currently in France with our 2 Rommie rescues - one of ours can be a bit barky with people she doesn't know and the other one just likes to hide away and sleep all day given the chance (but both because they still get scared at times), but they adapt really well to caravan/campsite life and are brilliant travelling in the car. They are also happy to stay in a dog-friendly hotel we go to occasionally - think the sausages from doggy room-service help!

Aww sounds like they're both doing really well bless them. Pinto has done just about every form of accommodation now, camping, static, cottage and hotel. She's done really well at all until our most recent airbnb when she gave me the fright of my life and jumped over the garden wall into an open field! Wow freedom! My only concern, there were horses at the other end. She just wanted to run in circles until a farmer came, he was very nice to be fair, but Pinto thought dad was a safer bet. So we are now aware of her hurdling abilities!

That was a lovely read and a lovely 'tail'... I remember your trips on here with Bailey and I'm glad to see you are still camping and Pinto is settling in well to her outdoors life.

Thank you, she loves being in the tent with us. Harder work than Bailey as we think she could potentially be an escapologist so she's on lead inside at night - our tent has a velcroed area which would be better if it zipped all round. Will be sharing our latest trip report soon from last weekend.

That site looks smashing, great big pitches with good separation. I think I might try that next year. Glad your dog is settling in!
