Mine was a 3 day walk from the Corney Fell Road in the south western corner of the Lake District to Keswick. I headed north over Whitfell and I camped near the summit of Green Crag, where I enjoyed a spectacular sunset and moonrise. On the second day I descended into Eskdale and climbed Esk Pike via the remote Lingcove Beck valley. I ended up camping on Glaramara, and watched the sun set over Great Gable. Day 3 saw me descending into Borrowdale, from where I followed the Cumbria Way into Keswick.

Not in the van but a 2 week cruise on Rivers Rhine Main and Moselle. 3 countries, Netherlands, Germany and France.End of September into October.
Great weather and very peaceful. Brought back memories of our time with the RAF in Germany.
We have previously done Amsterdam, to Budapest and Duoro River cruises.
The Duoro one is very good, great scenery.
We had 6 nice weeks in France, not as hot as last year and some heavy rain at the start but a good caravan trip.

That's got to be our trip to Malta in October. Somewhere we had been wanting to go for years and never got round to, and it was the only holiday this year spent in warm sunshine. All our trips in the caravan were wet and windy with the odd nice day.

Malta is nice. When we retired in 2014 we spent 3 weeks there in October. Great weather and good fun. I was there as a kid in the 60s, my dad was in the Royal Marines.
My old school Verdala, is now an international school. It was formally the British forces school.
We lived in Sliema , which is where we stayed. In the summer term school finished at 1pm so we went swimming at a place for service families on Manoel Island in Sliema Creek.
The island was a lot less built up in those days. There was nothing at St Paul's Bay which we used to go to at weekends for the sandy beach.
My dad bought a new Mini , one of the first to be imported. Probably tax free.

Yes we enjoyed it there. We stayed at Mellieha, but we visited several other places from there. The bus service is great with frequent buses going all over. We visited Sliema, and caught the ferry from there into Valetta, then the bus back to Mellieha at the end of our day out. We also went across on the ferry to Gozo, and took the circular tour bus round there. The aquarium in St Pauls bay is incredible. Best one I've ever been to. A very enjoyable holiday and the first time we'd been abroad for over a decade.

The buses are very good frequent and for a €2 ticket when we were there you could go anywhere! We caught the ferry into Valetta a couple of times.
The war tunnels were a good visit.

The bus tickets are still €2 go anywhere for up to 2 hours. We missed out on the war tunnels but I'm sure we will go back. We just ran out of time.
