how did you manage Snowdon in trainers?? Which route did you take?
It looks like the 'main' route (cant for the life of me remember its proper name) that's starts from Llanberis village and runs along side the train track. It's also the route the snowdon race takes. It's a fairly easy climb, with a half way house on route to the top. I've walked this route from approx age 5 up, that's how 'easy' it is.
Yes it was the "easy" route which is called the Llanberis Path. We wore trainers because that was all we had lol. Even the easy path was a bit of a struggle towards the last 1/4. My sister-in-law and me had a lot of rests and there were some very, very steep sections with lose stones. Diane and I arrived at the sumit about 1.5 hours after the rest of our party lol, but we were pleased we did it. The walk down was much quicker and easier.

what a lovely set of holiday snaps! - everyone is happy and having fun! a holiday doesnt have to be expensive to achieve that ( sometimes it does the opposite! ) thanks for posting and sharing!
Yes, it's been a real leasson learnt for us. We would normally eat out every day and visit lots of places where you have to pay entry etc on holiday. This is the first holiday we have EVER had where we did most of the eating at the tent/accommodation. We took packlunches out with us and drinks. Before we went I spent some time reseaching things to do which were free or cheap. So much time was spend just messing about in the stream or lakes, the kids and our dogs loved it.
Beautiful scenery, happy campers. Your little ones sitting on the harbour wall takes me back to my childhood - many happy hours spent hanging around the little harbour in our village.
Thanks for sharing your lovely happy family holiday pics.
Think everybody has said it all already .Lovely photos, beautiful scenery .Its amazing what you can find to do that's free or reasonable with a bit of research on the internet.I've never been to that part of the country but it's now on my 'to do 'last.
Happy smiling faces say it all....camping = freedom
My husband and I spent a few days in this area for our 20th anniversary and decided we would like to take our kids there in the summer. Can you tell me what site you stayed in or can anyone recommend one?
Thanks x
Oh, was away when these first went up..... obviously missed 'em! :-(
Brilliant set of pics, Fairywings. Beautiful scenery, happy campers, Blue skies, welsh lamb, dozing dogs, ye olde castles...... looks like you were all set to come away having had a perfect holiday...... until the diabolically feeble attempts at water skiing let the whole thing down.......
Wonderful pictures, Tania! Spent a lot of my holidays around Conwy and Snowdonia - glorious places to take the kids, as you say, you don't need to spend a lot.
I found it quite hard to get to the summit of Snowdon on a fairly hot day, but even harder to get down again! Stomping downhill and taking care not to break ankles on the shale was very tough on the knees!
Your holiday looks idyllic! And all the better for being an economy break! Well done, you.
