Few pics of 'our' long weekend at the Red Lion campsite in Norton, Gloucester.
Right next to the River Severn, flat, quiet within reach of good food and beer. What more could you want?
Hereis my Delaware and the bottom pic is my mate sortin his VermontL
A great stay and if you ever visit this site PLEASE do use the Coalhouse Inn pub ...Its 2.5 miles away and the food is superb....Only open Fri, Sat and Sunday though...
I have posted a campsite review also

------------- Snowmen fall to earth in kit form........
Every day is a gift..That's why it's called the present.
Obviously a nice site although some older reviews are not very complimentary.
None of the reviews give any indication of what there is to see/do nearby within walking distance/public transport.
I have stuck it in my virtual brochure as it seems the type of site I like and the price is right but I wouldn't want to spend two nights just camped outside a pub. Apart from the pub and the river at that location is there anything else to see and do in the nearby area?
Bob61.....There is a great walk/public footpath along the Severn...(Saw my first ever Coracle there too...result)
The site is peace and quiet so no club or water slides etc on site.
The old reviews are from the time when the same people ran both the pub and the site....Simply they couldn't manage both IMHO....Now the pub is sold and is making its own way....The site is better now, as are recent reviews.
Short drive into Gloucester to visit the shopping nightmare (my words not hers) that is Gloucester Quays....Load of sports/camping outlets...70% off when we were there.
If you do go please read my review and visit the Coalhouse Inn.
Also its well worth noting that me and my friends always camp next to each other and stick a small kitchen tent between us....The pitches here are HUGE and you would normally be a good 20 foot from the next tent/caravan.

Thank you for that, Graham. It seems a nice peaceful site then with a river walk and the pub...as you say...what is not to like
I don't like driving when I am away (or any time for that matter) so try to find campsites within walking distance of interesting or scenic places. I think it is only about an hour and half from me so ideal...thanks again.

Pub is now under new owners....We did try it the first night and had a decent meal there. Tried to book in again the following night but they were full. It has a good menu night time on offer and at lunch time they offer quite a selection. It's nice sitting out by the river in the sunshine....
