Well we had a lovely sunny weekend at Pillaton , Penkridge, Staffs. That is until morning time & ready to pack up ...the heavens opened .
We choose Pillaton because it is approx a 30/40 min drive from home, we needed to stay local as my youngest needed to be at her academy class on Saturday. The reviews were good & we want to try many local sites so that we can have more cheeky week end camps.
Spent Friday & Saturday chilling & relaxing.
We were on pitch 5 & pitched our tent facing the lake so had a nice view.
Yes we had to join the ...'pretty lights for outside your tent group '


.

Pitch was large enough for us to have the main pod, sleeping ext, all front awnings & our windbreak / tarp shelter erected.



Our car was parked the other side of the tent & we had plenty or room between us & the other people on either side.
Friday we saw a stunning sunset.


The site was busy but not over crowded or rowdy, staff were friendly, facilities were good & the site was kept tidy & grounds well maintained.
All in all Friday & Saturday were very relaxing ....Sunday !!! was another matter very hectic trying to pack away & get everything in the car ...then got home & set everything up again as it was sunny & the tent needed drying as did the tarp & windbreak ...so set up in the garden & even draped part of the awnings over the stair banister. Few hours later all was dry & yes you guessed everything was took down & packed away ready for next time !

Urgh nothing worse than a wet pack up. At least you had the sun when you got home, and an easy tent to put back up. Site looks nice too

Next time your there,have a drive round to the microlite field and treat yourself to an air experience flight,don't forget your camera,(as you live fairly local) ask your pilot nicely and he'll fly you over your house to take a photo of it

Glad that the photos sparked some memories..
We watched the microlites all Saturday ...was amazed at how low they flew over ...kids loved it.

Don't leave that wet tent too long you wouldn't want it spoilt by mold or mildew!!

Lovely photos. I like your windbreak/tarp setup! We stayed on this site 4 years ago to attend a UKCS meet. Lovely site which if memory serves right had a massive wooden playpark? Can't remember our pitch number but do remember it was blowing a hoolie as we tried to pitch our tent. Thankfully a few friendly UKCS members helped us hold the thing down before it took off!!
