Hi mate,
Nice tr and photos, despite our great weather looks like you enjoyed it.Welcome to the world of mountain walking sometimes it is better to turn back and wait for another day.If i had a fiver for the amount of times ive done it i could buy another airbeam A decent pair of boots with gaiters are well worth the investment if you carry on walking.

Cheers Welshy.

Hope the recovery is going well.

Glad you all enjoyed yourselves, shame bout the weather!
You'll have to go do Snowdon again when it warms up a bit?

Your certainly braver than me, slightest bit of rain or mud and I go in to camping meltdown 😂

Not ideal weather, no, but I do genuinely find myself getting less stressed about it, the more I go camping.

With the forecast as it was, the amount of rain we had, and all that mud, I'm not too proud to admit I wouldn't have even set up 4 years ago! Under these exact conditions, I reckon I would have upgraded to one of those pods, and left the tent in the car upon arrival!

Thanks Mucker, the operation recovery is going well and im feeling better and stronger each week.
Unfortunately after the results of 2 CT scans ive been told the renal cancer is still there.
I start targeted therapy treatment this week, which is by tablets taken at home, but like all treatment of this kind they have some nasty side effects.I have been told it is uncurable but treatable. So i have to go with it and see what happens.Roll on our first trip at the end of May cant wait

Hi Mucker,

Great report and pictures, love your tent and awnings set up.

And a nice idea regarding old towels to help at pack up time.

regards

Burnzie

Hi Burnzie, and thanks.

With respect though, I think "a nice idea" is a bit of an understatement when it comes to camping in the UK.

I'd say when it comes to camping tips, it was right up there with "Don't forget to take your tent"!

Luckily, it was one of the first tips I read on here, and we now take a bag full of old towels (about 6, maybe 8?) every trip, regardless of the weather forecast. You just never know when they might come in handy!

Actually, there's another tip now...
Due to the "No detergents on tent's" rule, we only put these towels through a hot rinse. We read about possible detergent residue in the towels, then wiping towels all over a wet tent, and put two and two together!
That may be a little too paranoid, but it works for us, and we don't care what the towels look like, as long as they feel clean and dry when we take them!

Lovely trip report Mucker and kudos for getting half way up in that weather.

Snowdon is on my to do list this year, although ours will def be a fair weather ascent!!!

Karsten looks great btw, hopefully you've had a chance to clean it by now ready for the next trip.

Thanks TT. Yes all clean and ready to go again.

Talking of going again, we have informally discussed a plan to re-visit, in an attempt to at least get a little further next time, so the weather/time of year may well play a major part in our plans, but one thing we do need to plan around is the parking situation, at least for the Pyg Track at Pen-y-Pass.
If it's chokka block by mid morning on a very wet and dreary first Sunday in March, Lord knows (but can well imagine) what the situation will be in finer climes, throughout those mythical "summer months" we occasionally hear mention of!
I'd say at least a plan B will need to be put in place, if not a plan C.

Oh... and we'll definitely be taking an alarm clock with us!

Just sayin'!

Rule 1 from the camping manual...never erect a tent on a dry river bed

Thanks for the heads up Mucker.
Parking is a nightmare everywhere now....but you would think you would be ok in the middle of Snowdonia in early March!!
I had seen this camp site Link from which you can walk up I believe - never been there though so they may be being ambitious !!!
Will be going with my 7 year old so want one of the easier routes up if poss.
