Well, after not visiting last year, it was back to probably our favourite campsite. Was always going to be a tough one, our first visit without our beloved Bailey but he loved it there so much we had so many memories to relive during our holiday.

We arrived at the end of Whit week so the site was still pretty full, after a wander round we ended up back on the first pitch we ever camped on at FfF 9 years ago.

This was our first trip with our recently bought new air tent, Kampa Kielder Air Pro 5 and we were really pleased with it.

Come Sunday, things went very quiet with only a handful of tents and some caravans and motorhomes left, with the exception of one of two small tents, it stayed pretty much like this until Friday. Believe me, for someone who spends all their working hours in a primary school, this was absolute bliss for me!

For obvious reasons the lake was an emotional place to visit that first time, and to my amazement the first time I went down there there was a tennis ball floating on the lake, last week when we arrived on our pitch at Spring Valley there was a tennis ball on our pitch, think Bailey is just letting us know he's still with us!

I could post a hundred pics of this beautiful lake, but I'll restrain myself to a couple!

This photo is tinged with sadness, the previous day 6 beautiful cygnets hatched, I was lucky enough to video them all with mum on her nest. Sadly the next day, all 6 had gone, probably the victims of predators. Nature is very cruel.

20190608_203810

We paid our usual visits to Hay-on-Wye and Ludlow, both beautiful places, unfortunately the rain followed us on both occasions!

20190603_115627

IMG_3515

And was there ever such a beautiful drive to the supermarket??

20190605_153647

20190605_153413

Had a couple of lovely meals out at the Llanerch in Llandrindod and The Eagle in Rhayader, this was the latter.

20190604_172613

As well as some onsite delights prepared by the hubster!

20190605_112148

20190605_181046

And I'll end with this one, I'd be lying if I said I didn't shed a tear or two during our visit, especially sat alone by the lake. No matter how many years pass I will always think of Bailey and that lake, he loved it in there and diving off the jetty, such special memories.

I know how you feel about piece and quiet. I too work in a primary school, and relish a little time without children......
I honestly believe that your Bailey is still with you and always will be x

Lovely pics Tracy. Its the only NON adults only site I would go back to. Its a wonderful campsite. I am now a Wales lover, thanks to Ff. We are going back to Wales at the end of the week, albeit in a concrete tent. But its such a beautiful country, its worth driving the 5 hours or so to get there. Woof

Being able to have a week there term time was amazing, practically adult only, now that would be the perfect campsite.

Thank you very much. Our chairs are the Intex inflatable ones, we actually bought a replacement one from Tesco while we were away at a very reasonable £16.99 - they are indeed very comfy.

Haven’t been at FF for a few years ... bring back lovely memories.

Love the knitted blankets - did you make them?

Can I ask question re electric hob. How do you find it
compared to gas? Can you use other electrical items at the same time? Hubby and I looked at them last week when we replaced our gas bottle. If paying for EHU makes sense to use it to cook with too. And the hob is less bulky than cooker and gas bottle. Got me thinking 🤔

Sorry only just seen this!

Yes I did make the blankets, thank you!

We only recently changed to electric hob but have been very impressed. We first changed to suitcase stoves to save space and although we've never had s problem with them I was always worried about some of the stories I'd read. DH had also said well we're already paying for electric so why not an electric stove.

No regrets!
