Our third trip of the year was a weekend at Wood Lake Adult Only site at Great Hatfield in East Yorkshire. Only a 20 minute drive for us but had a few bonus days off work so thought we'd try it out (review added)

After the short journey we had a very hot set up on the Friday afternoon. Thankfully mid-setup an icecream van turned up on site, what a welcome sound those jingles were!

We had a lovely big pitch in a very quiet area, backing on to open countryside.

They even did proper doggie icecream, but you might know madam Pinto turned her nose up!

Only there for four nights we took a slightly more compact set up but still had our home comforts

As Pinto likes to sleep with dad we decided to take one of our spare campbeds with us so she could sleep next to him but he still had his own space...

It worked at times but she still likes dad's bed best!

Hornsea was less than 10 minutes away so we had a nice walk along the front and Pinto got to have a little paddle. Unlike Bailey, not sure we'll ever be able to let this one off the lead!

We found that the nearby Hornsea Garden Centre was completely dog friendly including in the cafe, which served lovely, reasonably priced food. Pinto found a statue of a border collie and then a stuffed labrador, both of which she managed to ward off with her scariest bark!

On the Sunday we visited Skirlington Market and Pinto wore her lovely bright coat that asks that people give her a little bit of space. We had some lovely people ask about her story and she was really well behaved and calm for most of the time.

We spent our last afternoon having a walk around the site and taking some photos. It really is very picturesque and is as quiet as it looks. There is even an enclosed off lead area for dogs. Unfortunately for us (and Pinto) the fence isn't quite high enough for Pinto and we know from experience that she can clear that height!!

As we were so close to home we decided to pack up a day early as the tent was lovely and dry, but we stayed on site all day and then packed up later on. Pinto is getting better and better and loves camping.

Great pictures! Pinto is lovely too. We could never let our last dog Benji off the lead either, as he would chase anything. He once slipped his collar and shot under a hedge into a field chasing something that my wife didn't even see. Took her ages to get him back.

Great pics, and Pinto is going to be famous like Bailey on UKCS!

On our last cottage holiday with 'enclosed garden' Pinto cleared the ivy covered stone wall into the field on the other side. My husband had to climb over and then she just ran in circles! When a farmer (friendly thankfully) appeared and stood on the opposite wall she decided that dad was the safer bet!

Many years ago we had two dogs, both rescues and both completely different. Bruno was a sort of small lurcher, and Bekki was a sort of spaniel cross. They both liked to get into next-door's garden to play with their labrador. Bruno could clear a 4'6" fence without even touching it, and Bekki would tunnel underneath. I was forever raising fences and filling in holes!
