Having recently aquired a year old labrador puppy we wonder if it would be possible to add a special topic area to chat about experiences when taking an animal companion along. Is this a good idea as I feel I need as much assistance from this forum as when I begun camping. You were all great and sooooo helpful then...could you be again?

Yes please - would love a sub section for pets on tour - always looking for recommendations for sites and as we are just about to start to take our 17year old cat any advice would be welcome.
It takes a pet owner to understand another pet owner.
Hi. Yes we agree with this idea too. After all, why should our humans be the only ones who get to post on here. We really could do with somewhere where we could discuss how we should treat our humans when we allow them to come on holiday with us.
Peggy and Marco, the greyhounds who our humans think they own.
Since I'm always most active on the dog-related posts, yes I agree it's a great idea. I wouldn't want folks who aren't into dogs to get sick of hearing from me!
I am taking my dog next weekend camping in the gower south wales I have only come across one campsite that will not take her shes a 6 month english springer spaniel
It's actually next Friday we head for Tiverton and it's an odd set-up; We normally share a self-catering cottage holiday with OH's family (16 of us, so huge cottages have to be found). The venue this year is in Tiverton, but the owners house rules restrict the dogs to the kitchen only. This isn't workable for us as they are used to being wherever we are indoors, so the owners are kindly allowing us to pitch the tent in the garden there where the dogs can be as close to us as they like! Sorry it's not a proper campsite to recommend. We will be on proper campsites for our next two trips, honest .
I am surprised no one has asked for a new section for "Camping with Children" after seeing this thread, as I believe if we have one for dog owners, then it makes sense to have one for those with children.
What about those with dogs AND children???!!!

We got our first dog, a rescued westie, and we couldnt wait to take him camping. Unfortunately we discovered he gets travel sick! Worst drive down to the New forest Ever!!
Couple of ideas: Take an extending lead and tent peg it to the ground to give him a bit more freedom on site.
Or half a dozen windbreaks round your tent to form a fence so he doesn,t have to be on the lead all the time.
Downside to taking dog you cant go visiting a lot of local attractions.
We are still taking him again. We would go without him.
