I've just boughta Kamei Corvara duo-lift 390l to store the tent gear.
Trouble is, I can't make sense of the fittings,
I don't 9lan to use the u bolts, preferring to use the t bar system for my alum. roofbars.
I've got the box onto the roof and tightened up with the grey plastic knobs, and it seems OK, but I'm a bit worried that, since I've got 4 seemingly-spare "bits" , I may have missed something that the inadequate instructions don't mention.
The four pieces in question are each hexagonal "bolts ( like those on the pieces with the grey plastic knob tightener, but the base of each has a round disc attached, which is much too wide to go into the t piece slots on the roofbars.....which begs the question......what ARE they for, and where do they go.......or are they simply for use on a fitment variation that I'm NOT using???.
It's my first roofbox, and I'm keen to arrive at my destination at the dame time as my kit!!
Anyone able to advise please??

Hi Jockeasy
We've got the same roofbox.
On each of the four feet on the box there are 2 holes underneath and a pump handle above inside the box. In order for the locking mechanism to work properly it needs to grip onto 2 hexagonal prongs fed up from underneath. When you use the U bolt it fills both of these holes. But when you are using the T bar option (which is what we did with Prorack Whispbars), there is only 1 prong, so one hole is left empty. The extra pieces you mention need to be slid into the spare holes from underneath to replicate how a U bolt would fill both holes. These extra bits don't connect in any way to the roof rails, they just sit with the round disk tight up against the bottom of the box and give the locking mechanism 2 prongs to grip onto
Jim

Hi there,
I found this post while searching for the u bolts as I have misplaced mine. A bit of a long shot, but if you still have them and are not using them could you sell me them? The items are discontinued so my box is useless without!
Thanks in advance, Peter.

I wouldn't hold your breath for a reply Peter, let alone any opportunity of parts! Jockeasy made ONE post 10 years ago and has never been heard of since!

There are 'universal' U bolt fixings available from Ebay and other outlets, so you should be able to find something to suit. Just ensure the pitch centres and required hole size match your roof box, if not, now holes may need to be made in the roofbox to match replacement fixings.

My roofbox came with several sets of holes in the base to suit different fixing arrangements, I just use insulating/gaffer tape to seal redundant holes to prevent water ingress.

We have the same roofbox and we do not use U bolts. Ours simply clips into the T in the roof rail.

Hi Ian,
My bars don’t have in the roof rail. I’m aware there is a kit for that application, but am loathe to fork out for new cross bars.
So thé million dollar question, do you have the u bolts and are you willing to part with them if I cross your palm with silver?
Regards Peter
