Hello - one pole joint on our Motordome 780 broke in a gale recently. We do have a spare in the bag but no info on how to replace...is it push fit, screw, whatever?

Pic of joint attached.

Has anyone out there ever replaced one? Advice appreciated - Khyam themselves seem unreachable.

I think there’s been a discussion about this elbow joint in a previous thread. I can’t do links, sorry, but it came quite far down the Google page.
Links to Khyam website in that thread didn’t work though: new websone coming soon, it seems.
You could try the Help section at Leisureshopdirect. And there’s a website that sells replacement tent poles, if I remember correctly: they might be able to help.
Hopefully, someone here will have the answer!

Good. When you find out how to replace the elbows joint, could you put the information here? It might help someone else who has the same problem.

Have managed to replace the broken joint using the spare that came with Motordome 780. Each of the two parts is held in place by a spring loaded 'nipple' within the pole itself which protrudes into a hole in the joint exterior.

Depress nipple with suitable tool - I used a short pozi screwdriver (pic 1), pull off the broken joint (a bit fiddly)

Lay out the two poles in line before removing the broken joints - the nipples should align on the same side. (pic 2) Unclip the elastic band clipped to one of the joints before removing. (3) Slide on the new joints depressing nipple again and job done. 3 pics attached - not the full process but an indication.

I think we could have done the job in situ on campsite knowing this but as last day of hol we packed away to fix at home. Fortunately we were able to open out the relevant poles without fully erecting Motordome.
