My gas bottle has gas in it but the flame won't light. It seems like it must be gummed up inside but I can't see any way to open it up to clean it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

If you state the make and model of the stove, or post a photograph to identify it, someone may know how to remove or clean the jets.

As said above, we'd need a clue as to which model stove to advise on dismantling and jet cleaning! TBH, many are not really intended to be dismantled, so may not be easy/possible.

Now some potential alternatives to blocked jets/burners.

Depends on how old your 907 cylinder (well, the last refill) is, but Campingaz used to be pure Butane, which stops turning to gaseous form around 3 or 4 degrees C ambient temp, so whilst you may well have liquid gas in the cylinder, it wont give any gas output on a very cold day! More recently Campingaz has changed gas to a blend of gases that work down to below freezing ambient temps.

Again, depending on age, regulators do fail with age, so it may not be allowing any gas to flow! Regulators are considered potentially unreliable after 10 years old. That said, mine must be well over 30 years old and still working fine, but TBH very little used.

Hoses deteriorate with age/use, they should be changed every 5-7 years from date of manufacture. Potentially if old, disintegrating internally and shedding debris which is causing a blockage 'somewhere'.

Post a photo or model number of stove and we can comment further.

It’s probably something simple like a blocked burner or a kinked hose. Try giving the burner a clean with a brush or blowing out any debris, and make sure the hose isn’t twisted.

If that doesn’t work, check the regulator as it might be stuck or faulty, and sometimes just disconnecting and reconnecting it does the trick. Could also be an air lock in the hose, so disconnecting it for a minute might help reset things.

Welcome to UKCS. One week on, have any of these suggestions been helpful? It might help others with the same problem in future.
