I know exactly what you mean, we use 30 litre ones in our door bin.

For a scientific solution, if at all possible, would be to take it off the van, pour water into it to determine the volume.
However, the volume alone might not be sufficient.
I would measure the depth of the bin as well as the size of the opening so as to help with finding the bin liners that fit.
I don't have this issue with my van as I strap a bin bag, usually recycled tank top type bags from shops/markets, onto two hooks that I added to the exterior of the under-sink cupboard in the kitchen. I recently bought 100 blue ones off Amazon as I am running out.
However, I have this issue with the bin at home, as it is a tall bin, and the normal 30L ones for tall bins do not fit well, in that when the load starts to get heavy, it will sink towards the bottom and drag the top off the ream of bin, if you know what I mean.
Hence I believe the depth of the bin is important.
I get the 50L ones for my 30L tall bin at home nowadays.

Haven't got the foggiest what dimension or capacity my bin bags are, they are decades old and left over from a domestic bin we used to have, but found a new use in the caravan. Point being, there are bags (or at least used to be!) bags that fit the caravan bin perfectly!
BTW. I've got the quite large Hartel type bin, like this: https://www.primaleisure.com/product/1121074/hartal-grey-exterior-door-bin-w-dustpan-brush

Surely it’s just a pedal bin size. We use a larger bin in the awning.

Our door bin is the older Hartal 'D' shaped one with a hinged fitting that the bag fits over and clips on top at the front. I find that a very small bulldog clip fitted at the back, over the bag's top edge and on the flat of the D, stops stuff going down the back of the bag.
