I'm after some advice regarding an Erde 142 trailer.
Ideally, I would like to add the 30cm extension as it's much cheaper than the ABS lid but I ca only find the 143 but this has a different mounting.
Has anyone modified their 142 to fit the 143 extension? It seems like it's a simple case of drilling into the top corner of the steel sides but I don't really want to buy the kit to find it's not that simple!
Not modified, but the extension bar frame were angled which fitted on the corners or the trailer, it was the actual cover that kept the whole thing together.
We have an erde 142 trailer that has the lid looking to swap to a box trailer, or see if I can do the same, in making the 143 sides fit the 142. I can't see it being a major problem looking at the 143 sides I'm a welder/fabricator so I'm happy to cut and modify the sides. Be good if anyone has done a similar job before to know what problems they ran into.
If not after this years camping trips are over, I may well bite the bullet and just get on and order a kit. Cheaper than buying a new box trailer I'm thinking.
I have already modified the original sides the reinforce the corners and fabricated my own load.bars for the abs cover and they cost me £25 rather than the £200+ for.the erde ones and I can say my ones are a damn sight stronger than the original ones to!!
I will add some pictures of them once I fit them back on this afternoon after having them galvanised to match the rest of the trailer, we used them in may for a trip to Cornwall but I just spray canned them to make sure I was happy with them.

I will take some pictures tomorrow of my load bars.
I can't comment on the fitting of the abs lid as it was already fitted when we bought the trailer (was about a year old when we bought it)
When I fitted the load.bars I did remove the lid and reinforce the front corners with some stainless steel angle that I fabricated my self. (Probably stronger than any you could buy) This did seam to make then front end much more rigid once I fitted the load bars and roof box on them.
I would highly recommend doing this as the front with the lid on dose seam a bit flimsy.
I think I'm thinking more along the lines of buying another trailer.the same and using the sides and to extend ours.
I'm happy to make you a set of load bars and get them galvanised. Like.i said I will add some pictures tomorrow. If you are interested I will work a price out for you

No I haven't been well so have been off work for a few days.
So I haven't been able to price up the materials.should.be back early next week so will get on to it then.
It's the postage that's going to be pricey I imagine.
I have been looking more so into extending my trailer hight wise.
I think the easiest way forward is to look out for a cheep trailer the same. (Basic trailer, not the best condition)
Are.goinh for between £140-£250, so I'm waiting for one local ISH to me and will buy it removed the 4 sides and fabricate some new corners posts and retro fit them my self. I have seen it done on a couple so I know it works. Currently 1 for sale on face book market place.woth a grp lid to.
