How high is the Cobb "plate" above the burner? That will effect heat.
Also, a trangia burner will burn for approx 25 mins. Refilling a hot burner can produce "interesting" results.
Also, how do you get in to use the simmering ring?
Finally a wee tip. The trangia burner is the best but their summer rings are awful. Get a cheap Chinese clone just for their simmer rings. They have wee handles and they fit the Trangia burner.
Something like this ( the burner is rubbish but the stand is ok and the simmer ring is good)
http://Foppla Portable Alcohol Stove Outdoor Picnic Stove Mini Alcohol Stove for B........
Hmmm, I could not open the link for some reason.
I have yet to try this myself, however, the person who posted this in the Cobb FB group that I follow reported good result with long burn time using bio-ethanol fuel.
If I were to use the simmer ring (I bought the Trangia one already), I would put the simmer ring on before I light the fuel. This way, I would not need to drop the simmer ring onto a burning Trangia burner.
Besides, I would be using tongs to lift the simmer ring if required, and to move the slider plate for more or less heat if required.
I am not a complete newbie to a Trangia stove - I had used a Coleman or Campingaz copy in stainless steel when I was a tenter (now sold when I switched unit).
I am not going to be that stupid to pour fuel onto a hot burner, or to squirt fuel onto burning charcoal, etc. etc...
Thanks for your advice and concerns, however, please give me some credit as I am not a complete newbie to camping and am au fait with the risks associated with naked fire.
