I have been emptying caravan cassette toilets for 15 years and never lost the waste cap down the Elson, 2 years ago I retired and changed to a campervan and yes I let the cap disappear down the drain, if it was a Thetford a new cap is readily available the toilet in the campervan is a Dometic and they no longer supply the cap! I found some so called copies at a ridiculous price i.e. £25 so if anyone knows where I can get a sensibly price screw cap that fits, have tried other caps but Dometic caps are slighting bigger typical!

I’ve wondered before if the cap is essential, having left it behind at several sites. There are so many bends from tank to exit that the contents of the tank will never slosh out, surely? (Cue a deluge of corrections.)
Only judging by what I’ve seen, some people empty the cassette daily when it’s nowhere near full. And another shoutout for leisureshopdirect . They seem to have everything.

Thank you for the suggestions Dometic have discontinued the cap as a spare item you can only get a cap if you buy the rotating spout for £50 odd quid, so I borrowed a yellow Thetford cap it's the right size but the Dometic thread is courser so I carefully filed it to the right profile know I have a cap that fits and if I am stupid to lose it down the Elson again I can get another one off the shelf for £8.99 (still a lot for a plastic cap).

What the OP has is a version of a porta potti, and not the typical caravan / motorhome cassette type. queue.

And unfortunately LSD do not have everything, this is a bit of a misconception.
