Similar experience for us in Bath - exposed campsite and we had the front of our tent pitched into the wind (wasn't like that when we set up on Saturday obviously!) We ended up with a wrecked Royal daytent (£100 two weeks before, as we'd read how unstable gazebos were so we opted for a professional one fit for purpose) - our Sunncamp tent needed repegging three times during the night (delta pegs will be my next purchase) although it did stay dry except for a bit where the groundsheet isn't swen in - so we were cold, tired and miserable by Monday morning when we abandoned the trip as the disaster it had turned out to be - instead of the quality and relaxing family time that we'd intended.
I've never been so miserable in my life! Today we've spent in the sunshine at home in Brighton, unpacking everything, cleaning it and drying it - still perhaps next time I will take notice of the weather forecast - it would have been better to lose the £20 deposit, that the abandoned 3rd night camping (£26), entrance to Wookey Hole where it rained all the time (£34) and ruined Royal gazebo (£100) - not to mention possibly putting us of camping for life!
