Rickit, we have bought all the same trailer set up as you. How old is yours and how many miles did it do before you had to fit new wheel bearings?

Not sure on Mileage prior to us getting it but trailer I think is around ten years old. Bearing on one side had totally gone. Inner ring had all but welded itself to the stub axle. Guy we got it from was a market trader so he probably covered some miles with it. Cost around the £30 mark to replace both bearings, inner seal and the bearing outer cap. I check the bearings every time we stop for overheating and check the seals before we take it away each time. I am going to take the wheels off each winter to check and regrease the bearings as this simple maintenance should stop a bearing collapse whilst we are towing it.

Cheers John

just bought a Erde 142 on E.bay for £200(299 new in Halfords) this is probably a good average size,Bridgwater Trailers do a all singing and dancing trailer for around £700,hardtop ( with rails for bikes ) jockey wheel, spare wheel etc etc, can't do without it now,E.Bay is probably the best bet, good luck

We just bought a Duuo trailer, and it's great, just what we needed. The chassis part dismantles and fits inside the box part and the whole thing is on castors so it's real easy to store. We got it from Wilmond in Hitchin, great price, great service, they even sorted out the fault with the wiring on my towbar. I can't praise them enough

Have thought of getting a trailer but have a couple of couple of concerns ,perhaps someone could advise,

How easy are they to tow(especially reversing)

Is the tow bar easy to fit

I assume some sort of electrical wiring is req, how easy is it?

Very easy to tow, very hard to reverse (the shorter the trailer the harder it is to reverse).
Tow bars can be fitted by professionals for less than £200
The electrical hook up is part of the towbar fit.
We've got a 6' X 4' trailer with hard top and just throw everything in leaving the car empty. Great for taking proper pillows etc.

Hi john+caz, as long as you maintain the bearings regularly I have been told should be fine as this is usually overlooked by most. As per my previous post I am intend to strip and regrease every year during the winter months.

Sofa came from wifes online catalogue but you can get the same sofa for around the £30 mark. Search the other posts here as they have the link to the cheaper prices, we paid £50 for ours.
