I was silly... I bought 3 Gelert solar showers 2 years ago.
No 1: Where we camp, usually by the coast, there are rarely any trees let alone any with suitable height branches to hang the shower from (family height ranges from 6'2" down to 3'). When hung from the roof rack of a ford mondeo (the highest thing near our camp) the flow ended up about knee height to an adult. Even so I thought it might be useful to rinse the sand off the kids. It is - if you don't mind the suspicious looks you get as a result of the wails that you are rubbing too hard - the flow is pathetic! Adults?? Forget about it unless you happen to like showering horizontal under a trickle and have slaves to hold the heavy bag of water up.
No 2: The on/off switch is difficult for an adult, let alone a seven year old.
No 3: We need more sun! On the best summer days the water gets quite hot by about 4pm but everyone's too busy roundabout then to want a shower. By the time they fancy one, the water is stone cold again.
No 4: I usually still pack one. I lay it out on top of the trailer, pitch the toilet tent near to that and use it as a handwashing facility.
Anybody want to buy two solar showers?
