Earlier in the thread somebody made the point of saying don't use fabric softner with them. Just a passing comment, but apparently you shouldn't really use fabric softner on any towel, especially tea towels. I forget what the actual ingrediant is but it is a bit like silicone - makes it soft and slippery but sustancially reduces the water absorbtion capbabilities due to the coating it places on the fibres.
I told my mother this some years back, and after doing a little experiementing she stopped using it on any towels for years, saying she couldn't believe how much dryer an ordinary towel would make you left untreated.
That said - I use it with all my towels.LOL
