I'm a Ham radio user, had my licence since 1999 and I use yaesu radio's. I don't use it that much anymore though. As for CB radio i have still got a few of them tucked away. I have radio's from a moded president Lincoln 24 to 30 mhz, a mk1 cobra 148 oh and a 80ch maycom, plus many more. I have an 80ft latice tower in my garden thats got a passion flower climbing alover it these days. I've not been on 27mhz for many years, i might fire it up an see who's about. I was very well known when i was on air..

Welcome G4VXS de G1XWX / M0DSB radio is alive and kicking and in the not to distant future will be active in our folding camper, haven't had a chance to setup yet but I am looking foward to it.Radio has taken on a whole new lease of life what with the foundation course and everything else. You should get up and running at home there are some great data modes to be explored.
Is it possible to take, or train, for the Foundation Licence at home? I have tried to get some sense from the RSGB but think that I'll be in my box before that ever happens.

Hi sorry for the delay, been out of the country. Good to see some intrest in Radio,
The following link will answer lots of questions. Yes you do need to attend a training course to get the Foundation Licence, I beleive this is part of the requirment.
The RAE Advanced exam can be studied at home then tested at an aproved center. Best to check with your local Amature Radio Club, Most provide this course.
