I also got two off ebay, but in the last week have picked up a calor gas and also a patio gas cannister for a quid each at the local tip (was expecting to have to bung them a fiver). The guy at tip said most cannisters are dropped of at the weekend.
Following the advice on this site I will probably just use the 907 when I go to France (didn't realise you can't take gas cannisters on the channel tunnel so won't be able to take my camping gaz grill chef on my main holiday!) I will mainly use calor over here or propane if early/late season.
Incidentally, bit disappointed with my grill chef. Bloke off ebay said only used twice and clearly been used more than that. Paid £34 to include the 907 regulator and hose but he forgot to post those bits. Somebody on here told me they were only £40 new with regulator on ebay, so would have pulled out, but didn't think it was the honourable thing to do! Still as long as he posts the reg and pipe out as he says he will do all will be ok in the end. You win some and lose some!
We have the party grill and the thread on the pole will only fit the 907 or 904. We have both bottles but it is a bit top heavy on the 904 but very stable on the 907, even when close to empty. A word of advice about using the grill. Have a kettle of hot soapy water at the ready and pour some into the grill plate as soon as you have finished cooking. The so called non stick surface is rubbish and they are a begger to clean if you dont get them in to soak asap after using. Otherwise we are very pleased with ours and it was a great substitute for the BBQ on a site in France which didnt allow BBQ's.
I just received one for a lady in answer to my freecycle add. It just needs filling. The lady even apologised because it was an empty one and I was probablty needing a full one. Not at all we were really happy with it empty. It's under £20 to fill it.

I took one accross on the tunnel when it first opened...we were stopped and had to have a sticker on the window to show we had it on board but they did let us take it.
I went onto the eurotunnel website after I posted and checked for myself. You are right you can take through tunnel subject to certain criteria and declaring it for inspection. You must also have a manometer present for the inspection.
I may be wrong but that reads as if the manometer is required to check the filling rate mentioned on 'fixed' containers. They don't mention the filling rate on 'portable containers so I presume it's not required. Sure someone out there will know for sure!
We did not declare as went last minute without booking and had read no detailed info about it.(the tunnel had only just opened) I was aware of the danger of gas on boats but did not think about it then.( stupid I know). We were stopped in a random check before boarding and given a right telling off when they opened the boot and saw the gas bottle! As I said before they just gave us a warning sticker for the windscreen and let us through. It helped us that the bottle was on full view in the boot making it obvious to them we were unaware of the rule and had not tried to conceal it. They took all our details and for a while I thought they would refuse travel or confiscate the bottle! It was not the gas that was the problem, just the fact we had not declared it...very very naughty!
I agree with the suggestions for getting hold of an empty bottle but, if you can't get one elsewhere, the 907 is £45 here plus delivery at £4.99.
It seems a good idea (and economical with space) to use a barbeque/grill which fixes directly onto a 907 bottle. As previously posted on another thread, we always take this Gelert large single burner, which also just screws onto a 907 bottle.
Hmmm...now I'm tempted to get the grill as well...

Would a Cadac skottel liner fit this grill, magicaly? We use one with our Cadac (surprise, surprise!) and it is fab; just rinses clean and keeps the Cadac spotless. Also makes for healthier food as no fats are required for cooking...

We always use the tunnel and take gas bottles, you just have to declare them and have them available for viewing so it can be verified they are turned off.

What a good idea. It probably would fit as we had the Cadac but sold it to get the party Grill and save space. The party grill is very similar to the Cadac skottel so I will give the liner a try. Thanks
