I have read with interest all the above info. Am planning to perhaps get a Waeco CF40, can I run it off my leisure batteries (which are boosted by a solar panel) and would I need special connections to fix it on batteries?   I want to run it as a freezer all the time, is this wise? When on campsite, will use EHU.  Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for all your comments. We have now brought the Waeco CF40. We looked and looked and for the price couuldn't find any better for the price. We paid £152 on the calor gas site and were really pleased with our new contraption. It looks to be good quality so will let you all know how we got on come the end of June - following a holiday in southern france. Hoping some beginners luck is on our side!!!!!x

Hi truckeroxford.

You should have snapped that CF25 up at £170, the RRP is around £400!!, the CF25 (CoolFreeze) that I have have definatley works on 12v in fact it also works on 24v, and the mains is via the Waeco adapter as that kicks out 24v, cheaper 12v adapters don't work as well as the Waeco adapters if at all. I agree with others that for portable use the CAB40 is cumbersome, and also the CF25 is a true mini Frige/Freezer and uses a almost silent compressor, and not the Absorbtion process like most £150 coolers, which will struggle in very hot climes..
