On the subject of hoods, we had one right hand and one left hand zip, and the hoods ended up on the same side - I think I must have done something wrong, but I can't think what :-S
I can't quite visualise this, but the connecting zips can either be between you or at the edges, depending on the design. I know that if I zip my two Astrals together the zips end up in the centre front and centre back.
