You might want to consider the TUO Camping Mat by Nemo. It uses two layers of air so in case one layer pops you still have a backup.
You don't need to sleep on the ground too. Use a camping cot with the mat on top and you'll be fine. If you have a comfortable camp cot you won't even need the mattress.
We have the old fashioned canvas covered air beds NEVER gone down in the night we have a double and a single together but lay on them so that double is at the top and single at the bottom with just lower legs on it, plenty of space and no one ends up on the floor as fills the bedroom pod! We have diablo 600 for camping.
just avoid bed s made by bestway of china gelert use them gone through 3 this year but they do not care do they about time we made them in this country worth making one that lasts !
We have one of these, an Intex queensize inflatable with built in pump, it is fantastic. Both my wife and I suffer from bad backs but there is no problems when sleeping on the Intex. It comes with built in pump and built in pillows, but we used an extra pillow also. Plus when you want to pack it away you set the pump to reverse and it completely flattens it in minutes, easy then to put it in the supplied bag. We love it.
