Hi PJinKent.
For sure it is very bright, and unfortunatley you can not dim LED's by lowering the voltage, so we tend to drape some fabric over it to diffuse the brightness a little, it generates no heat so is a very safe but bright light, but not as nice and homeley as my Bialladin 320 Presure lamp, but Mrs Francais will not let me take that camping anymore!.
Hi Francais.
I must admit, that's one of the things I really like about LED's....no heat. Why won't your good lady let you take the other lamp?

Hi PJinKent.
Mrs Francais don't like the pressure lamp, firstly due to the constant hissing sound, which makes her think it's going to explode, and also she says every time you see one in a film, they usualy set fire to a building!, I have tried to explain that back in the day, outside matkets use to use them as the only light source during those dark winter evenings, shame realy as I have completley refurbed the lamp, and it works like new, I must admit though before the refurb it was prone to the occational flare up!.
"Quick, Mrs F... the lamps caught light! Get the marshmallows out"
You have to accentuate the positive in these cases Francais

Right folks , we like the lantern type of camping lights , so which ones do you think are the brightest on the market just now........or any type of lights you think are top drawer
I have always used a 4 'D' cell battery lantern which I bought from Argos for about £4 (may cost a little more now). It can be changed from bright to dim. Not a bad lamp and the batteries last a long time, however, it is quite heavy and not really suitable for hanging off the roof of a tent.
I have recently gone EHU so I am now about to buy a stick type mains inspection lamp with a neon 13 amp tube and a hook on the top for hanging from the tent which I believe is fairly light (in weight).
Many Inspection lamps now have LED bulbs and are battery operated or mains. These are obviously very economical, don't get hot, and usually use AA or AAA batteries so are very light. Most are designed to be hung up (over a car engine) so are ideal for tents. Some are quite expensive but I suppose you gets wot you pay for.
