does the top rack open up so you can get the crumbs out?
I reckon turning it over and shaking it would do the job...

Is that what it is?  Yes, it was fine, so long as I turned the bread round as it toasted.  I only tried one round.  Maybe it doesn't work so well with more than one slice?

Lucky if you can defrost bread with them. I like the idea of the egg poacher, another thing for the list!

The one I have is at least 20 years old.  I wonder if they used to make 'em good in them days.

Hi - we have one of the Bright Spark ones - came 'free' with a single burner stove from Lakeland a couple of years ago. No - it doesn't open up so you do have to shake it to remove crumbs. Used it to warm up croissants as well as toast. Feels more solid than the mesh single slice thingy (which I have too). Lakeland is good for lots of kit - tablecloth clips, salt and pepper minis, coolbags etc. An no, I don't have shares...

Sorry but "poach pods"! whatever next. Poaching is really simple folks. I appreciate you're not Marcus Wareing or Gordon Ramsay but all you need is a frying pan, fresh eggs, hot water, some white vinegar and a cup. Boil the water with a few splashes of vinegar. Turn the water down until bubbles rise slowly from the bottom. Pop your egg or two into the cup with a touch more vinegar and then, as close as you can, gently tip the egg/s into the water. Gently swirl the water from the outer edge until a small swivel of water turns the eggs around on themselves wrapping the white around the yolk. Baste the tops with the water using a a large spoon and leave to cook for 6-8 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the eggs continue to cook for another 3 minutes.

With a slotted spoon, lift the cooked eggs out and touch the White with your finger, you are looking for springeness. Drain on kitchen paper and serve.
