You can get vac-bags from Asda, check the labels and buy the roll-up ones. then you do not need a vacuum at all, just seal the top properly and roll all of the air out. We send the kids off to cadet camp with these and they can withstand some hammer.  still weigh though !

Roll up vacuum bags for us.(Got some today from Poundland, but dont know how good they are yet, has anyone here tried them?). Tried the Hoover type ones with the suck bit of the air bed pump which worked fine but was extremely boring!

Bought poundland vac-bags last year not quite as good as dearer ones but similar, bought ones from argos and 2 have burst already, poundland ones still ok so far

We have rolled up bags from Packmate. In particular with Outdoor ones are much tougher as the use a material reinforced with a mesh.

As for pillows. Have used those from home but even vac packed are bulky. 'Camping pillows' are a waste of time IMO inflatable ones just uncomfortable, padded ones like the Vango ones are just basically a cushion with not much stuffing in.

Have finally alighted on a couple of solutions. Me and the wife use square memory foam cushions - firm but supportive hthey still compress down nicely in a vac bag. Kids -who tend to end up not sleeping on them anyway have rectanuglar cushions, a bit like a small pillow. Again pack down nicely

We have cushions instead of pillows, find they are more versatile than pillows and because the inner is feather its just like having your pillow from home but without all the loss of space.

we bought roll bags and inflateable pillows from poundland. The pillows are great if a litlle small, but the the vac bags are rubbish, de-vac'ed themselves in about an hour
