We use a 907 for several reasons, despite only camping in the UK.

Firstly, it was thrown in with the cooker by a very nice private seller on ebay, complete with about 2kg of gas still in it.

The small bottle size is handy for us as our car is already rammed full, and I'm trying to avoid having to go for additional storage. I know the Calor bottles aren't enormous, but they are bigger.

Also, as we don't get away as often as perhaps we would like, a refill will easily last us the majority of the season, if not more. So the cost difference against Calor would be in the region of maybe a tenner a year - not something I'm going to lose sleep over. So the convenience of the smaller bottle (and getting it for nowt) takes it for us.

I managed to win a 7kg Calor butane on eBay earlier for £10.50! We have two 907's but the price to refill both types is about £19 - and the 7kg calor has 3 times as much gas.

We didn't know this when we first bought the 907's ten years ago when we started camping, and we're just starting up again so I decided on Calor due to the price of the refills.

And should we ever camp abroad we have the best of both worlds!

Used to use the 907 Campingaz, but my wife found a Calor BBQ gas bottlewhile out for a walk in the country, (amazing what people throw away).

Swapped it for a 5 Kg Patio Gas bottle because the are more common, and now use that. (Would never use a "found" bottle").

A lot cheaper than Campingaz.

Moving slightly sideways, how do you fit a CampinGaz bottle to a UK 'van if you run out of Calor when you're over there? Obviously a CG regulator is needed, but how can it be fitted to the van's piping?

If you have a bulkhead 30mb regulator fitted, you'd only need a pigtail plus an adaptor.

You've tagged on the end of a long defunct 10 year old post Dev47! ..... BUT, the link in the post by Hacksaw Bob is still functional. Those kinds of adaptors are not too difficult to find from a number of outlets.

The outlet thread is the same as a Calor Butane cylinder, so that's the coupling type you will need.

Campingaz is available in UK and Europe.
Calor Gas only available in UK.

Calor Gas do propane and butane, propane works better in cold weather.

If your summer camping in Europe get Campingaz.
If your summer camping in UK get Calor Gas butane.
If your winter camping in UK get Calor Gas propane.
If your summer camping in Europe and winter camping in UK get Calor Gas Propane and a little hike stove running on butane/propane mix for emergencies.

Buy your chosen gas cylinder empty on Ebay for £10, go to the camping shop get a refill and ask for a regulator and hose and let them fit it for free, if they don't do that find another camping shop.
