We bought our flag pole last year - we were going camping over the 4 year anniversary of my brother being injured in Iraq and as i like to mark/celebrate the occasion (well he did survive!) i bought a really cool "help for heroes" flag and another "support our troops" flag.
This week we are off for our first camp of the year, and we are going with South Africans, Brazilians & Brits, so we'll have a right old selection this time!!!
I also always fly the Jolly Roger, which I think should be compulsory, especially when anywhere near water!
Here is mine last year altough my flagpole is not as posh as all on here! Having seen the price on the link I may invest in one as they aren't as dear as I expected.
I'm also hoping flags will solve a problem I have with birds sitting on my ridge tent and using it as a pooping station. I'm hoping to get a string of small flags/bunting and tie it accross the ridge. I know it will only move very gently in the warm, light breezes we are due this summer, but it should be enough to keep the little critters off! Just not sure if it will look a little daft though???
Flags - brilliant! Oh, the potential... One with the Unseen University motto on would be fun: 'Nunc id vides, nunc ne vides' - now you see me, now you don't. (Discworld, for those of you saying 'what?') Or one of those Elven banners from The Lord of The Rings, or... well, the list is endless really!
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
look what you've started now. I'm spending more money on 'needed kit' again. I suppose I'd better let the boys choose them so god only knows what we'll end up with.
Silly question, what size flags do i need to buy?

We bought our 5m flag pole for a tenner from a guy selling fishing rods on Tir Prince market in Towyn. After being at Builth showground for 5 night during a champ show, it was so packed it was the only way of seeing which way was the shortest one back to our caravan. Next year there I rigged it up with a welsh draagon flag and solar lights. Our kids and some of the neighbors found it really easy to find their ways then Well worth the cash for a bit of fun.
Only downside was that everybody knew where to find us for one of my beers?!!

the birthday flag I got is about 3ft x 2ft ,and the jolly roger ones are about that size too. but I have seen people with bigger ones , like they take to footy matches maybe 5ft x 3ft? but probably need a longer pole for these as well.
We are getting married and for a laugh fancy having a bride and groom windsock/flag as we are spending 5 weeks touring Scotland for our Honeymoon (better than any hotel)
congratulations , here's a plain white flag you could design your own . either with transfer paper you print your design on to the paper and iron on , or maybe with fabric pens ?and these
