Ha thats huuge!  I think an aircon would probably be as popular as a generator on a campsite - very noisy.  Although years ago in an office I worked in they had a small cooler unit which you had to keep topped up with a fair bit of water - it was very effective and apart from a hum it wasn't too noisy. 

We were worried about being too hot in France last year - the temp was in mid 30s and we were fine - our tent is canvas which helps though.  But we werent too hot in our sleeping bags at night and could even be inside the tent during the day if we needed to.

Not that compact really.  The first one is about 3ftx3ftx3ft - give or take a few inches - there is a brochure if you follow the link and it gived the exact size and weight.  Judging against the height of the woman in the picture, I think the second one looks bigger.
